It’s true. I failed at CrossFit. In case you are not familiar, CrossFit is a type of workout routine that combines strength and high-impact training. I have no excuses as the gym is half a mile from my office.
But here’s the thing.
I just couldn’t be consistent. Between work trips across the country and cross-ocean, dance recitals, scholarship banquets and more I can’t make the three times a week that I believe is required to build any sort of skill or endurance for CrossFit. And I get the sense given that the people who go there seem to know each other intimately and go practically every day that intermittency in this situation is not helpful.
Then there’s my messed up mindset. I felt like the wimp in the group with the lightest weights. I would dread the times we have to work in small groups of two and three. I would feel pity for my partners who constantly had to change out their big heavy weights for my teeny tiny fairy weights as we needed to share equipment. Not to mention the box jumps that I just can’t bring my mind to because I’m pretty sure I would hit mid-shin and crash my legs into the box. When it comes to the box, I’m a one-step two-step girl.
What’s Next After Crossfit
It’s so bad that I have abandoned my 10 class pass with 9 out of 10 more to go.
My friend and aerobics instructor says the best workout you can do is the one that you will do.
So it’s back to the gym for me.
