I hope you and your family are safe, staying home and staying healthy! For the past several months, our world has been topsy-turvy and our new normal is taking some time to adjust to, like working from home.
Many jobs have transitioned to a remote position, leaving leaders to get creative when it comes keeping morale up. And during a time of crisis like the one we’re facing now, that can be hard to achieve.
Even though your job is now done remotely, your team still needs your leadership. And during this time of uncertainty, your team needs it now more than ever.
I’ve put a list of ways to show your strong leadership skills in a remote environment.
Communicate With Your Team
The whole world is using platforms like Zoom to hold online meetings with their team. It’s proved to be a great way to communicate with your team to check in to see how they’re doing and offer words of encouragement.
Be Available
Naturally your team is going to have questions so be sure to give them the opportunity to ask. Keep them in the know with what is going on at the company level. And again, offer some words of comfort.
Share Your Feelings
Your team wants to connect with you and there is no better way to connect with your team than sharing your feelings.
Let them know what you’re feeling about what’s going on in the world right now. If you’re struggling to balance work and family right now (and who isn’t, right?). Where you come in as a leader is with your composure and reassurances that everything will be alright.
Celebrate Special Occasions
Let me wrap up this blog post with this one. Send online cards like birthday notes, celebrate service anniversaries or other special occasions.
Set Up A Facebook Group
Create a Facebook group for your team. This will make it easy to communicate any updates from the company as well as give your team a chance to stay in touch with you and other team members.
Wrapping It Up
I hope this post gave you some ideas to best communicate with your team. Just remember, even though your job may be considered non-essential you are still essential to your team!
